Here comes Reality

On Saturday May 9th, Evan, Krystal and I walked the stage at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. This is what we had been waiting for since the first day of college, but was a bitter sweet day. No more sleeping in until whenever we want, no more skip days just because its nice outside. After we walked that stage we looked at each other and said “Now we go to work everyday!” It was a great 4 years, but now an entirely new chapter is about to come up. Fortunately for us, we have a great internship and really enjoy our time at work. This summer will not have the pool time like the other summers did, nor the amount of road trips, but it will have a lot of fun times with SportChassis. Getting everything ready for SEMA will keep us busy and will be very interesting. Hopefully we will be able to ride along on some of the road trips to deliver a SportChassis to a new client and see how everything works. So after graduating, I think I am more excited for this summer than I ever have been before.

Gumball 3000 Comes To An End

The Gumball 3000 finished up on Friday May the 8th in Miami, Florida and the SportChassis team of Luke Burrett, Charis B. and Dennis Rodman finished up in 20th place. Not too bad for a medium duty pickup going against a ton of exotic sports cars. There will be more pictures to come but here are a few links to video coverage of the Gumball as it made its way across the country.

Rally, Festival, and FUN!

Route 66 FestivalRoute 66 FestivalRoute 66 FestivalGumball Rally 3000 is reaching the end. Tomorrow they will be reaching Miami, FL and Brian will be meeting up with the SportChassis Gumball crew- Luke, Charis, and Dennis. Hopefully Dennis will be awake at the time, after keeping up with the SilverStar Co tweets during the last few days we will have to wait and see. I kinda wish that the Gumball Rally was more than once a year, because it seems like an exciting adventure.

On a more exciting note, the Clinton Route 66 Festival is next month on June 26th and 27th. Lucky Star Casino will be featuring Sugar Ray, Gin Bloosoms, and Tonic in concert. Check out Clinton Route 66 Festival website for more information. SportChassis will be hosting the car show at the festival, so if you are in town stop by and enjoy a day in western Oklahoma.

Coast to Coast

On May 1st, Gumball Rally 3000 launched its race from L.A to Miami. As usual, the Lamborghini’s, Mercedes, Aston Martins, Bugatti’s, Audi’s, Cadillac, Ferrari’s will all be tearing up the pavement. But unlike anything ever before, the Gumball 3000 will be graced by SportChassis. The SportChassis truck will be driven by Luke Burrett, who owns SilverStar Clothing, his wife, Former Playboy Playmate, Charis B and last but certainly NOT least.. Dennis Rodman. With a lineup like this, its impossible to not have eventful stories, pictures and videos! The gumball 3000 is a grueling 3000 mile “race” that starts in LA, goes to Las Vegas, then to Santa Fe, then off to Dallas, New Orleans, then ending in Miami!! Yesterday in Texas, 4 cars got pulled over doing 100+ mph, 2 cars were towed and impounded and 2 drivers went to jail! A Bugatti was going 180! This is an exciting event for SportChassis to be apart of and will help us in getting our name out!!  For Pictures and stories go to : www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-Gumball-3000-start/ and  http://www.gumball3000.com

SportChassis, US-CSOG, and the MTUV

mtuv-first-oneSportChassis recently hosted a photo and video shoot of the introduction of the latest SportChassis innovation, the Multi Tactical Utility Vehicle, or MTUV, to the United States Corrections Special Operations Group. Senior Team Leader Jose Garcia of the US-CSOG has been helping SportChassis to develop a state of the art vehicle that is specifically designed to help corrections and law enforcement agencies handle a variety of high risk situations.

The MTUV is a multifunction vehicle designed for versatility and ease of use. It provides maximum flexibility and  increased response capability in a secure mobile platform. The MTUV can be used to transport a sensitive prisoner to another facility, move sensitive assets, assist in security screening, or a variety of other correctional or law enforcement duties. Usually, each of these functions requires separate vehicles, and additional training, manpower and cost. Not using those assets for their intended purposes each and every day is extremely cost inefficient.

The SportChassis MTUV overcomes those obstacles and meets each of those needs in a single vehicle. The universal base-vehicle design accepts discrete modules specifically engineered for: prisoner transport, tactical team deployment, and rapid response. Basically this vehicle is an all-in-one crime fighting machine, designed by the best, for the best.

mtuv-blog-1Senior Team Leader Garcia brought in his personal RHA-114 along with three of his own crew members who quite possibly may have starred in Rambo. The marketing staff here at SportChassis was joined by a film crew from Los Angeles to make sure that not one good picture or second of film was wasted. Krystal, Jordan, and I all were shooting pictures throughout the day from our own unique and intriguing angles while Brian and the film director from L.A. were making sure that all the major footage and shots were taken care of.

mtuv-3After shooting the intro for US-SOG’s video, we moved back inside for a video tour of the the SportChassis plant, to see why Senior Team Leader Garcia knew that he could come to SportChassis to create the MTUV. While I got the chance to shoot some video for the film crew, Krystal, Jordan, and Brian, continued taking pictures and making sure everything was going as planned.

Once the tour was complete, it was time to unveil the MTUV to the team and see how they liked it. We had the cameras in place and in what seemed like a clip from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Johnny Red gave the cue and there it was. The US-CSOG members freaked out. They had never seen anything like it and were more than anxious to get inside. Once they were through being little kids at a candy store, we continued the shoot with several demonstrations of exactly what the MTUV is capable of.

mtuv-2

At the end of the day we had over 3,000 pictures and a few hours of video footage. The pictures were all developed here at SportChassis and the video was sent back to L.A. to be edited and finalized. The video will be posted on the US-CSOG site (http://uscsog.com/) sometime in the future and the rest of the pictures can be see at media.sportchassis.com. Enjoy!!

SportChassis and the Gumball 3000!!!

Some very exciting news that us interns have kept secret for quite a while has finally been approved for release. SportChassis will be pairing with Playboy, STRUT, and the owners of Silver Star Clothing to drive in the Gumball 3000, a 3000 mile Coast-to-Coast rally from Los Angeles to Miami. Sounds like an awesome thing to do right?

Well here’s a little more info. The Gumball 3000 and all the celebrities who drive in it, are in their 11th year of using the world as their personal race track. Each year the Gumball takes place on public roads at a different location throughout the world. 120 cars participate and rally their way to several checkpoints on the way to the final destination. This year, the stops along the way will be Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Dallas, New Orleans, and Miami.

The truck that will be starring in this great event is an RHA-114 that is well equipped with digital satellite tv, a sound system designed by Pioneer specifically for SportChassis, and in-vehicle wireless internet access from Autonet Mobile. The drivers of the truck will be Silver Star’s owner Luke Burrett, co-owner and wife, Playboy Playmate Charis B., and former NBA superstar and 5 time champion, Dennis Rodman.

This exciting and unpredictable crew will be keeping us interns and the rest 0f the outside world up to date on everything that goes on during their amazing journey.  We will also be updating their progress and any exciting happenings along the way via this blog, Facebook, MySpace, and the SportChassis Twitter account.

The Race kicks off in Santa Monica on May 1st and will finish up in Miami on May 8th. Once the celebrities finish the rally they will be delivering the truck to to the SportChassis dealership in Miami, FL, Broward Motor Sports.  Links to the sites that will be following the action are listed below. Route 66

The end of the semester is drawing near, which means this internship is just beginning. Unfortunately, Brian was out of the office most of the week, so I was stuck with the guys. We had a few assignments that Brian had left us to do. We are contining to photograph the process of the MUTV, along with developing past photos of SportChassis photoshoots. All-in-all thngs this week have been going pretty smoothly. We finished the Route 66 Flyer (for real this time) with no typographical errors. (hopefully) But, as of now, I will enjoy my weekend, work in the garden and enjoy some R&R. Next week we have a bright and early photo opt with STLG.

Plug your EARS!

It’s been yet another crazy and hectic week. It’s also been awhile since I’ve posted a new blog as well. So, most of you have heard about the inmate transfer to the new Custer County jail on the same day that SportChassis was doing a photo shoot with Senior Team Leader Garcia and some SportChassis trucks. Garcia kept the crowd entertained when he decided to show us examples of blank ammo. Yeah, note to self and advice to anyone reading this… when you hear the word “concussion” when referring to ammo, just plug you ears, or remove yourself from the situation. You will be likely to experience a sick feeling in your stomach followed by some uneasiness through the rest of the day. Just some words of wisdom.

Besides that little episode, we have been working on and have completed the “SportChassis Brand Identity Guide” and we are all pretty proud of that accomplishment. Within the last week we have moved on to some other important tasks. Comparison charts, ads for Clinton Chamber of Commerce directory, ranking and filing over 16,000 pictures on Brian’s computer, Photoshop tutorial sessions, finishing “Jump Start Your Business Brain” and oh yea, school.

So, just in case you’re curious we have had our hands full and “can’t wait” till school is over so we can really experience just this internship. Have a great Easter Weekend!

Krystal W.
